Street Grids

This animation shows the spatial logic for the orientation of the street patterns in Colorado Springs.  Different neighborhoods in the older parts of town developed separately, oriented to different local features or directions.  As these neighborhoods grew together into our contemporary city, awkward disjunctors connect one street pattern to another, often causing choke points or delays in travel.
