East Library
In 2024, The Pikes Peak Library District celebrated the (almost) 40th anniversary of the East Library (opened in 1985) on Union Blvd. with an exhibit entitled “When East was East.” This animation runs at the exhibit along with artifacts on display. Parcels and streets are overlaid on a 1947 aerial photograph and change in one-year increments. The site for the East Library is shown outlined in magenta. You can see that where the East Library would go was completely undeveloped in 1950.
