GAME Lab, the Games, Artifacts, and Multisensory Experiences Lab<\/em>, is a research lab at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs led by Dr. Ruhan Yang<\/a>. We create games, interactive artifacts, and multisensory experiences that explore how people engage with computation through play, touch, movement, sound, materials, and physical interaction. Our work connect human-computer interaction, game design, tangible interaction, physical computing, fabrication, and creative learning. We build prototypes, toolkits, and experimental systems for studying and designing hands-on, playful, and sensory-rich forms of interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GAME Lab is recruiting a Research Assistant for Summer 2026! <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

GAME Lab is seeking one hourly research assistant for a summer position running from mid-June to mid-August. <\/strong>The position is open to current undergraduate students, current Master\u2019s students, and incoming Master\u2019s students starting in Fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research assistant will support ongoing lab projects. Responsibilities may include prototype development, fabrication, testing interactive systems, organizing materials, documenting design iterations, assisting with literature reviews, preparing demo or study materials, and providing other research support as needed. Depending on the student\u2019s background and interests, the work may also include design-related tasks, programming, electronics, or web-based development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an hourly position for approximately two months during the summer<\/strong>. The base pay rate is $15.89 per hour<\/strong>. Work hours are flexible and are expected to average about 5 hours per week, although weekly hours may vary depending on project needs. GAME Lab also expects to recruit two research assistants for the Fall semester.<\/strong> Preference may be given to the summer research assistant for continued work in Fall if the appointment is a good fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GAME Lab is especially interested in students with experience in documentation, drawing or visual art, or toy and tabletop game design.<\/strong> Prior experience with research, programming, electronics, or fabrication is helpful, but not required. We especially welcome applications from women and students from underrepresented groups.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
