The Klocko Lab

The current research of the Klocko lab involves understanding the genome organization of the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa. Of particular interest is identifying the macromolecules critical for forming this non-stochastic organization, in which heterochromatic (silent) regions of the genome strongly interact to form a heterochromatin bundle and euchromatic (active) regions of the genome loop out from this bundle, and how this genome organization contributes to the regulation of gene expression.
